Energy Efficiency Grants for Small Business Available

Application deadline of May 1 for up to $25,000 in funding

Small businesses looking for help in implementing projects to trim energy costs and reduce pollution can now apply for state grants of up to $25,000, according to Senator Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47).

The Small Business Energy Efficiency Grant Program helps businesses implement measures that save at least 20 percent and at least $1,000 annually in energy costs. The program provides a 25 percent matching grant of up to $25,000 toward energy efficiency improvements on systems such as lighting, heating, cooling, refrigeration and process machinery, as well as building insulation and weatherization improvement projects.

Applications must be received by May 1 and grants will be awarded to eligible applicants on a first-come, first-served basis until the $3 million in available funds are depleted.

To be eligible, an applicant must be a for-profit corporation, LLC, partnership, sole proprietorship or other legal entity with no more than 100 full-time employees located in Pennsylvania. Applicants may be manufacturers, retailers, service providers, mining operators or agricultural businesses.
