Vogel to Again Lead Senate Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, Serve as Appropriations Vice Chair

HARRISBURG – Sen. Elder Vogel, Jr. (R-47) has been reappointed to several key Senate committees for the 2025-26 legislative session, including as chair of Agriculture and Rural Affairs and vice chair of the influential Appropriations panel.

The Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee reviews legislation and provides oversight of regulations that impact one of Pennsylvania’s leading industries, farming, and examines issues affecting the wellbeing of the commonwealth’s rural communities.

“Agriculture is not only a fundamental part of Pennsylvania’s heritage, it plays a vital role in our present and future as a commonwealth,” Vogel said. “We must continue working to secure farming for future generations by enacting sound policy that allows farmers to thrive and enables technological innovation.”

As vice chair of the Appropriations Committee, Vogel helps lead review of all legislation for its fiscal impact and develop the state budget.

“It’s critical that lawmakers keep in mind that state budgets spend money that belongs to the taxpayers, and we have an obligation to allocate it responsibly,” said Vogel. “We must continue the committee’s work of keeping spending in check and ensuring a healthy Rainy Day Fund to protect taxpayers against any future economic downturns.”

Vogel, elected to a fifth Senate term in November, was also reappointed to the Banking and Insurance, Environmental Resources and Energy, and Transportation committees.
