State Senator Elder Vogel lauded today’s announcement (October 19) by Auditor General Eugene DePasquale of the release of $316.5 million in municipal pension and volunteer firefighter relief association funds.
Counties in the 47th Senatorial District will receive more than $8.2 million of that money, Senator Vogel said.
Beaver County will receive $2,472,639.10 in municipal pension funds and $872,636.53 in volunteer firefighter relief association funds for a total of $3,345,275.63.
Butler County will receive $2,085,889.38 in municipal pension funds and in $1,174,826.11 volunteer firefighter relief association funds for a total of $3,260,715.49.
Lawrence County will receive $1,242,844.06 in municipal pension funds and $381,471.31 in volunteer firefighter relief association funds for a total of $1,624,315.37.
“This is essential funding for counties and volunteer fire companies,” Senator Vogel said. “Increasing pension fund costs are already straining county resources and the state support helps ease that substantial burden. In the case of volunteer fire companies, this money shows the state’s commitment to the tireless work of those men and women who serve our communities.”
