Senator Vogel Seeking Ideas for Saving Tax Dollars

Senator Elder Vogel Jr. (R-47) has launched a webpage, SenatorElderVogel.com/Save-PA, where taxpayers can offer their suggestions to cut state spending as an alternative to Governor Wolf’s tax increases.

“Like all families and businesses, state government needs to cut costs and set priorities when budgets are tight,” Senator Vogel said.

The announcement comes days after the Senate voted to cut the size of the Legislature, a measure that Senator Vogel has long-advocated to save taxpayer dollars.

“Pennsylvania has the tenth-highest tax burden in the country,” remarked Senator Vogel, citing independent analyses by the Tax Foundation. “Before reaching into Pennsylvania taxpayers’ wallets, Governor Wolf, my colleagues in the Legislature, and I must address the spending side of the equation. While it is the responsibility of lawmakers to manage the Commonwealth’s assets, every citizen can play a role in making government operate more efficiently,” said Senator Vogel.

In addition to using the webpage, taxpayers can submit their ideas via Twitter or Facebook using the hashtag #SavePA, tagging @SenElderVogelJr on Twitter, or leaving a comment at Facebook.com/Senator.Elder.Vogel.

“I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, my constituents in Beaver, Lawrence, and Butler Counties are my greatest resource. I welcome your input and look forward to hearing innovative ideas to save taxpayer dollars.”
